In brief
The remains keep an urban history that is not visible as a finished facade.
Useful to know
Ayutthaya was founded around 1350 as the second capital of Siam after Sukhothai. After the destruction in the 18th century, there remained plangs - reliquary towers - and large monastery complexes. [1]
In an architectural reading, distinguish the high religious emphasis from the location of the entire monastery. Empty spaces between the ruins are also part of the plan. Do not describe an archaeological reconstruction as a fully preserved palace. Compare the remains of the terrain with the lost parts designations to find out what actually survived and what is only being recovered as a hypothesis.
