Blind area monitoring: lane change warning

Blind spot monitoring monitors the area on the side and behind the vehicle and warns of risk when changing lanes. Bosch describes variants with ultrasonic or angular radar sensors. [1]

The radar variant can detect earlier and rapidly approaching vehicles. A glowing sign in the mirror is not the same as automatic steering. When comparing equipment, check whether the function only signals or is involved in other interference. Traffic overview remains necessary; the absence of a warning is not a guarantee of a free adjacent lane.
