color-scheme: browser interface theme

In a few sentences

In brief

The property informs the browser which color schemes the page supports.

Useful to know

color-scheme allows to request support for light, dark or several color schemes. The browser can conform to standard fields, scroll bars, and other surfaces of its own. [1]

Example: :root { color-scheme: light dark; }. This does not automatically create a finished dark theme for all of its own components. Their backgrounds and texts should also align . prefers-color-scheme is a condition for styles according to preference, while color-scheme describes the supported schemes. Check their combination, especially when the site offers its own switch.
