ZF's e-comp Scroll is an electric compressed-air compressor for commercial vehicles. Its described construction integrates an electric motor, inverter and liquid cooling, and is intended for applications including battery-electric and fuel-cell vehicles. [1]

Electric wheel propulsion does not automatically remove pneumatic consumers. The compressor illustrates an auxiliary system that needs its own drive. Assessing electrification therefore involves tracing not just the main motor, but also how braking and other air systems receive their supply.
