In brief
The pedal position is one of the inputs, but it is not the valve position itself.
Useful to know
The electronic throttle changes the passage section of the intake tract. Bosch describes an electric drive and angle sensor that returns position information. The control unit accounts for the request from the pedal and requirements of other systems, for example cruise control. [1]
Therefore, "pressed pedal" and "valve of a certain angle" are different parameters. The first is a driver's action, the second - a state of the executive component. There's governing logic between them.
This distinction is useful when reading diagnostic data: look for the exact parameter instead of comparing unrelated percentages. Don't assume that every difference means damage. The specific procedure for training, cleaning or replacement depends on the vehicle; the general explanation of the principle is not an instruction to move the valve by hand.
