In brief
The ensemble belongs to the history of Shona societies.
Useful to know
The ruins of Great Zimbabwe bear witness to a significant center of Shona societies between the 11th and 15th centuries. UNESCO connects the city with a large commercial role and with the development of a regional political environment. [1]
In architectural consideration, it follows the relations between the groups of remains, not just the highest visible wall. The separate monumental part is not the whole city. Historical legends associated with the site do not replace archaeological dating. To describe a specific construction technique, use a survey of the remains themselves, instead of judging solely by a common panoramic photograph.
