The old city of Lijiang in China is located on rugged terrain and is connected by historic trade routes. UNESCO distinguishes the combination of cultural influences and the developed old water supply system. [1]

Architectural observation can start from the water, not the roof. Track where the water network meets the street and housing groups. The infrastructure is part of the city organization, not an invisible addition to the beautiful facades. Do not draw a conclusion about today's drinking safety from the historical value of the system; these are different issues.
