Marrakech: how to distinguish the layers of the ensemble

Marrakech was founded in 1070-1072 by the Almoravids. The historical environment includes Qutubia, kasbah, fortifications, and monumental gates, and later periods added other significant monuments. [1]

In general panorama, these objects easily look like a single design. For a more accurate understanding, arrange the buildings by time and function: religious center, defense, palace, learning environment. The same city background does not mean the same date. The useful architectural question is how each new intervention connected with the existing city, not which individual building is the most photogenic.
