pdb supports breakpoints, stepping and inspecting current values. It helps establish where data changes unexpectedly. [1]

An interactive pause should not remain unnoticed in an automated process. Remove it after diagnosis and turn the discovered defect into a reproducible check where appropriate. Observing one execution path does not establish correctness for every input.
