user-select is not copy protection

user-select determines whether the user can mark the text in the usual way. The none value is suitable for some decorative inscriptions or controls where the drag otherwise creates an involuntary selection. [1]

It does not remove the content from the document and does not turn it into protected information. The reader may have other ways of getting it. Don't forbid the marking of an entire article: this prevents copying of a quote, search and personal notes. For a shortcut block, user-select: all may be more useful because it makes it easier to select the entire text.
