In brief
Radar and visual data are compared to a mapped environment.
Useful to know
Bosch's Localization map uses landmarks such as signs, fences, curbs and markings to determine the automotive position. Radar and camera data is involved in the creation and use of this map. [1]
This is a different task than just showing a route to an address. The map helps establish exactly where the car is relative to the environment. Don't equate it with the promise of unmistakable work everywhere. Coverage, actuality and sensor set are part of the particular system, and nearby street types do not mean interchangeable landmarks.
