writing-mode determines whether the rows are positioned horizontally or vertically and in which direction the blocks follow. In vertical-rl, rows are vertical, and subsequent columns are placed to the left. [1]

Example: .vertical-label { writing-mode: vertical-rl; }. This affects logical axes and meanings such as inline-size. transform: rotate() rotates an already formed box and solves another problem. Check how the signs themselves are oriented and whether the text remains readable for the audience. Do not choose vertical writing only as a substitute for a rotated decorative nameplate.
