Cup of flour and cup of sugar: same volume, different mass

King Arthur’s ingredient chart gives different masses for the same volume of different products. A cup therefore cannot be converted to grams using one number for every ingredient. [1]

When translating a recipe, check both the ingredient and the measuring method. A cup of chopped nuts does not necessarily weigh the same as a cup of whole nuts. If grams are provided, use them consistently. Combining roughly converted volumes with precise masses makes it harder to reproduce the result from one attempt to the next.
